Ferrets Play With Toys
The wonderful little furry friend we know as the ferret, is extremely playful and loves nothing more than playing with toys. There are ferret toys that are made solely with the ferret in mind, but there are plenty of other toys to choose from, whether they are other pet toys or even kids toys, your fuzzie probably won’t be to fussy as long as he can have some fun. There are some things that your fuzzie may find fun and may not even be a toy.
First off there are the actual toys that are made with the ferret in mind and there are to many to list in this article, so I will mention one of my favorites. The octopus, this is really a great little fun toy that can also be used as a resting place for your fuzzie. It obviously looks like an octopus, it is made of soft fleecy material and consists of the main body being a soft central chamber with the legs that branch off as tunnels, we know that ferrets love playing in tunnels so this is an ideal play thing for your furry friend.
Your ferret can have loads of fun investigating all the tunnels, entering one tunnel and reaching the main body then taking another tunnel and exiting the other side, you never know where your ferret will reappear and if they get a little tired they may stay in the body of the octopus and snuggle up for rest.
Cat toys seem to be a favorite with ferrets, so any play thing the cat can have then most likely your ferret will love it too. Jingle balls are a favorite, they love to chase the ball that is making a noise as it rolls, they will also toss it around then chase it. So balls are a good type of toy for your fuzzie, as is any object such as a furry animal or ball on the end of a thin rope, dragging the object with the rope and your fuzzie will go made trying to catch it.
We can make our own home made toys for our ferrets to play in, they love getting into things and they love tunnels, several cardboard boxes connect by some cardboard tubing or the arms and legs cut off of old clothes will make a great maze of interest for your little fuzzie. Especially if you add something interesting in each box.
There are probably some of your own things in your house that are not toys, but your ferret will want to use them as one, they like to investigate anything and if they find something they like then they will use it for their playing pleasure.
If you have only one ferret then you will need to be their play partner and you will probably have a need for more toys, but if you have more than one ferret then they do love playing with their own and there may be less need for so many toys. On the other hand ferrets are very friendly creatures and will be only to happy to play with another family pet, I have seen them have great fun with cats and dogs and when they have tired themselves and the other pet out they all curl up together for a rest.
You never know exactly what your own ferret is going to like to play with so it is a good idea to experiment with many types of toys, as long as they are safe toys, be careful of any sharp edges or small parts that could become detached and be swallowed by your fuzzie.
But just like other pets and even children, you buy them an expensive toy and they would rather play with the box it came in, so before you spend loads of money on different toys try the boxes connected by tubes, they are easily made and easily replaced when they become worn out.
